Most of my story ideas are large. They usually come to me after a nap, as a matter of fact the three story ideas that I think are marketable and I must write before I die have come to me right after an awesome mid-afternoon nap.
I just thought of my first short story idea that I think will work well today. It came to me while I was just lying on the couch. No nap involved. Maybe this is the key to short story ideas… no napping.
I plan on writing it in the next day or two and posting it here. Short story short post.

Nice. Didn’t Hemingway think that short stories were the future of literature? I can’t wait to read it.
Hey, I love love this new layout! Very nice. Waiting for your stories. Do you want praise, constructive criticism or an I-read-this?

Any comments you ever leave are welcome be they criticism or adulation.
The criticism doesn’t even have to be constructive

Although I like some Hemingway, The Pearl and The Old Man and the Sea especially, I had never read his thoughts on the future of literature.
Short stories always leave me wanting more and therefore are not my favorite things. I like a good solid novel, preferably in the sci-fi/fantasy genre.
I used to not like short stories, but I’m in love with them nowadays. Cuts to the chase, and I find that a lot of times some of these writers say a lot more in a couple of pages than they do in a couple of hundred. Just sayin’.
But in the end, nothing beats a good novel. I like the length because you become intimate with the characters and fall into the story.
@Seb
yeah I think that’s what makes novels my choice too. The character development. Short stories you have to either sacrifice the story or sacrifice character I think.
